Mark A Fisher

happening here

(after Justice Robert H. Jackson)

imagine a world carved from stone the

made up stories and lists of wrongs

paraded across a panorama of history which

only the few who bother to learn that we

trample across landscapes to go out and seek

examples of the inhumanity of others to

notice kindness and empathy then condemn

the very word they claim to revere and

do nothing but make up crimes then punish

everyone except those that have

suffered the least and would have been

protected from the doom pronounced so

other promised are made and calculated

to make bread and circuses designed so

the crowd never notices that the air is malignant

as we crawl up to dissolution and

climb up the walls reaching for blue sky so

observing the end becomes less devastating

stone sky

in the darkness beneath stone sky

slowly

slowly

water seeps and flows

untethered

by sun or storm

ignoring the spinning seasons

crystalline walls

growing

in the darkness beneath stone sky

hushed

voiceless lives

unheard

in the whispered echoes

of unseen battles

and silent ends

as eyeless things

crawl

in the darkness beneath stone sky

each disruption

brings opportunity

and peril

in a world hidden

in the darkness beneath stone sky
